Preschool

Holland International School has its own preschool where we provide excellent education for children between the ages of 18 months and 4 years old. Set in lush green surroundings, our preschool provides a safe and rich learning environment where children can truly be themselves. Through playful learning we help children develop confidence and a sense of self and the world around them.

At our preschool, we let children play in a rich and fun (outdoors) environment to help them in their individual, social and cognitive development. For our teaching activities, we follow the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) - a sound, structured, child-centered methodology that:

• helps children develop a sense of self and place within their world, and form positive relationships with others
• is developed specifically for children in an international setting to help them gain an increased understanding beyond their own nationality, while staying rooted
• Allows us to monitor each child’s progress to make sure they develop well both socially and cognitively

Happy learners learn through play

At our Preschool, the emphasis lies on ‘learning through play’ by exploring the units of the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) that are relevant to a young child’s world. We encourage them to become explorers, creators and problem solvers.

Cooperative Learning

We learn through play, but also by collaboration. By combining the IEYC and Cooperative Structured Learning (CSL) into the daily routines at the Preschool we establish a continuous stream of learning that eases your child’s transition to pursue primary education at Holland International School.

Bilingual exposure

At our Preschool, children are exposed to both Dutch and English on a daily basis. Therefore each group is led by two teachers, one English-speaking and one Dutch-speaking, ensuring that your child comes into contact with both Dutch and English. Our preschool is suitable for children of all nationalities and cultural backgrounds, as long as they’ve previously been exposed to either English or Dutch.

Flexible schedule, sleeping facilities and school bus

We offer 3 or 5 full days at our Preschool. This means, your child can enjoy themselves at our preschool between 8.30am and 2.30pm (1.30pm on Friday). Sleeping facilities are provided for children that need a nap to reenergize during the day and a school bus is provided by our trusted transport service partner Woodlands. Their drivers are experienced and reliable and there’s always a caring auntie on the bus to help your child travel safely.
