(Meaningful Dutch Saturdays)

At Holland International School, we offer a structured and enriching programme designed to help children explore the Dutch language and culture in an engaging and supportive environment. Our Meaningful Dutch Saturdays provide a safe and nurturing space where each child receives individual attention, fostering both language development and cultural appreciation. Through our carefully designed curriculum, we aim to bring out the best in every student while making learning a rewarding experience.

 

Experience Dutch language and culture on Saturdays at Holland International School

Our Dutch Saturdays combine interactive lessons with hands-on activities, guided by experienced educators. We offer two tailored programmes to suit different age groups:

For children aged 2.5 – 4.5 years

Our sessions follow a play-based learning approach inspired by the International Early Years Curriculum, combined with themes related to Dutch heritage. These sessions focus on expanding vocabulary through play, stories, songs, games, and other interactive activities. We ensure that each child receives the support they need to learn the language and grow at their own pace. This engaging environment encourages young learners to explore the Dutch language while interacting with their peers.

Themes we cover throughout the year include:This is Me, My House, Colours and Shapes, Let’s Celebrate a Birthday, Sinterklaas, Christmas, Sports and Movement, Underwater World, Kingsday, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

For children aged 4.5 – 8 years

A structured learning experience rooted in the Dutch curriculum and enriched with elements from the internationally recognised International Primary Curriculum. This programme offers plenty of variation: games, arts and crafts, cooking, movement, and of course, play. Our comprehensive approach strengthens both language skills and cultural understanding.

Themes we cover throughout the year include:This is Me, My Home Country & Heritage Country, Healthy Habits, Sinterklaas & Christmas, Sports, Sustainability, Kingsday, Travelling.

Both programmes are designed to nurture a love for the Dutch language, ensuring that children learn and grow in a fun and supportive setting.
